Twisted

A full day workshop creating a quilt top from my series of three “Twisted” quilts. The three quilts were all designed in EQ7 using one block that is rotated and flipped to create strong graphic designs.

Scrappy Star

starAn original pattern that includes a “trim to size” block that will just eat up all those scraps you’ve been saving. Each block is then sashed and a 4 or 8 pointed star cornerstone is inserted. The quilt is finished off with 2 thin borders and a wide scrappy piano key outer border with mitered corners. A number of piecing techniques are included as are fabric and color placement. You will finish a number of blocks and view demonstrations of all techniques.

Binding Technique Needs Improvement

A combination of lecture, samples, and hands-on practice of basic binding techniques to insure that this finishing touch is correctly and securely attached to your quilt. The judging criteria of binding will be explained and demonstrated.

How is My Quilt Judged?

A hands-on lecture that takes the quilter through the process of quilt judging. Students may bring their own quilts to be evaluated, samples may be used, or a combination of the two. Students will develop a direction to take to improve their own work.

Trapunto

The wonders of trim away trapunto will be explored as a small wall hanging is created. Other types of trapunto will be discussed, as will batting options.
