2-Day Introduction to Quilt Judging Seminar
One of my favorites subject to teach is, of course, quilt judging. As a NACQJ Qualified Seminar instructor, I teach this seminar throughout the year. Check my schedule on this website or the teaching schedule on the Qualified Seminar website to see when the seminar is being as a Zoom presentation. Whether you are a quilt maker or a quilt professional interested in perfecting skills and knowledge, or someone interested in becoming a quilt judge, this seminar is for you!
In the seminar that I teach, participants will view and discuss PowerPoint presentations on:
The Judge’s Role
Design Principles & Elements
Color
Quilting Design
Judging of Clothing
Students will also participate in activities on evaluating design and workmanship, discuss the job of judging, learn judging terminology, practice judging through hands-on mock judging exercises and gain an understanding of efficient and effective judging floor set-up.
The days are planned to keep the student engaged and learning in a comfortable environment with scheduled breaks and plenty of encouragement.
Certification requirements for the NACQJ Judge Certification program will be presented, however, this seminar does not certify students nor is it a NACQJ Judge Certification program prerequisite.
2 Days – 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
$300 per student, 12 student maximum per class
No supply or venue fee
Seminar Reviews:
"I enjoyed the two-day workshop so much, I did not want it to end. There was not one topic that I did not learn something, and none that I didn't enjoy. I particularly appreciated the mock judging and review of actual samples, and that all the attendees gave comments together, because I also learned from all of them.
I started to review the reference list and ordered several of the books in the list. I have started to make a plan forward to fill in some areas in my own experience that I consider to be weak, and that list along with suggestions made by some of the attendees gave me a great starting point.
Again, thank you for your efforts to educate us and for the high quality of the effort." Anne C
“Pat’s class was very comprehensive and informative. All aspects of quilt judging were included. The class materials are above average and the PowerPoint presentations are well done. The hands-on samples are excellent and the mock judging is superb."
"Pat’s style of teaching is fun and very enjoyable. I would highly recommend this class to others!”
