Circle Those Scraps Quilt Length of Workshop: 6 hours Number of Students: 20 Who doesn't love a scrap quilt? Burn through your scraps as you pair them with solid gradations and play with color values as you go. Scraps are pieced onto foundation fabric, then pieced as circles into each block, no applique is involved. In addition, students will view demos of embroidery edge stitching and a zigzag edge. Take a Trip Around the World
Length of Workshop: 6 hours Number of Students: 20 Take the mystery out of creating a precise strata that is then sewn into a tube and cut into strips of pieced squares. Once a color arrangement is decided upon, each strip is opened at one seam and the fun of color arrangement begins. Number of Students: 20 Learn how to easily and evenly piece circles into your quilts using the “freezer paper frame- glue baste - heat set, stitch” method. All steps to this simply successful technique will be fully demonstrated. Students may piece circles into an existing quilt top such as a jelly roll race top like the pictured class sample, Champagne Batik, or piece circles into blocks for a quilt of their own design. Number of Students: 20 An original pattern that includes a “trim to size” block that will just eat up all those scraps you’ve been saving. Each block is then sashed and a 4 or 8 pointed star cornerstone is inserted. The quilt is finished off with 2 thin borders and a wide scrappy piano key outer border with mitered corners. A number of piecing techniques are included as are fabric and color placement. You will finish a number of blocks and view demonstrations of all techniques. You Be the Judge
Length of Workshop: 3 hours
Number of Students: 20 A PowerPoint lecture introduction sets the stage for lots of hands-on practice that takes the quilter through the process of quilt judging from design to construction to binding. Students may bring their own quilts to be evaluated, teacher samples may be used, or a combination of the two. Students will develop a direction to follow to improve their own creations. Ideal for the quilter seeking to enter their quilts into judged shows or seeking to improve their quilting for their own pleasure. Workshop Fees: Full Day - 6 hours $650/$600* Half Day - 3 hours $450/400* *$50 discount when booked in conjunction with a previous/next day workshop/lecture/ judging. One discount is applied per lecture/workshop/judging combination booking.
